“Yoga is Unity. It is medicine for mind, body and soul; the unification in all areas of ourselves. A movement practice that allows us to shift energy in and through the body within all the layers of our being. Come practice, move together, and deepen your understanding and the relationship with your body and mind! This is the core for optimizing longevity.”
"To me, yoga is about so much more than just a physical practice on the mat. Yoga is about having balance, peace, and awareness in my life. One of the biggest gifts yoga has given me is the ability to create space to not only love and accept myself just as I am, but also those around me. I value the mind-body connection I have that comes with practicing yoga and the simple feeling of balance I have after coming out of a flow."
"For me, yoga redefines longevity in the sense of intentional movement. I’ve always loved the motto “move more so you can move more.” It is truly a blessing to be able to guide people through the movement of yoga and breath-work, knowing all the life-giving benefits students are receiving during their practice. What better way to prolong your life, than to move your body intentionally and purposefully? I am truly grateful for that gift."
"Longevity simply means long-lived members of a population with yoga being a discipline of breathing, meditation and movement practiced for health and relaxation. Yoga redefines longevity by using your body to get the most out of a long life, improved by the benefits of breathing, flexibility and strength."
"Yoga is unity, family, a celebration, it is sacred. The hot room is the sacred space where I can find myself again and again, learning to transcend my illusions and discover the innate power of my spirit."
"Yoga means union. That union is the connection between the mind, body, and soul. If you nurture this connection, you take charge of your own well-being. This practice allows us to lead a more balanced life... without blind spots."
"I'm passionate about living a purposeful life that enables me to stay fit and enjoy outdoor activities. I try to focus on the joyful moments in my life. I've worked in the healthcare industry for over 25 years and have seen the results of neglecting physical and mental health. Seeing this drives my passion to educate and help others on their health journey."
“Yoga encourages one to build endurance, patience, self-love, and community. It has inspired me to forever keep growing + learning, throughout all aspects of my life.”
Redefining longevity with yoga involves embracing a holistic approach to oneself well-being, cultivating physical strength, mental resilience, and emotional balance. That is what it me means to me.
The physical and emotional self are intimately intertwined, and cannot be separated. Yoga, with its mindful practices, becomes a tool to foster a deep connection between the body and mind, enhancing one's ability to adapt to the challenges of aging gracefully.
Ultimately, redefining longevity with yoga signifies a commitment to a lifestyle that nurtures a balanced, sustainable, and fulfilling existence.
Redefining longevity to me is the act of doing things that will make you the best version of yourself. We learn how to let go of consuming and negative thoughts by redirecting those thoughts to our breath. We learn the importance of balance, not only in our asanas, but also through activities and rest. Balance is the key to a sustainable and healthy life. Through the power of yoga, we learn to gain greater control over our minds and honor our bodies. Yoga teaches us that life is all a choice and the breath is the foundation of your life. Through choice and simply connecting to your breath, you become present and intentional, which helps you become the best version of yourself, mentally and physically, which ultimately cultivates longevity.
Five of the core factors that promote healthy longevity are nutrition, movement, lifetime learning, relaxation and connection with others. Yoga brings people together, promotes fitness and relaxation while potentially facilitates learning new skills and terms- that’s 4 of the 5 factors! We are not all gifted perfect health or stress-free lives but we can seek out activities that provide us the opportunity to maintain/improve our body and mind. Yoga is one of those positive activities!
The richness of creating longevity through yoga comes from the dedication of showing up despite what may be changing within and around us. It comes through releasing what yoga “should be” and allowing it to be whatever that moment presents. Yoga offers us the power of listening and responding to the seasons of our life and our practice. If we meet our practice with curiosity, we are able to feel the subtle guidance of what we need in each moment and adjust to meet those needs. There is space for effort and ease, for holding and releasing, for inhaling and exhaling… we learn how to carry ourselves with determination and grace. If our practice is all encompassing, we are able to return to our mats in many different forms and receive the benefits of a lifelong journey toward wholeness.
Longevity (as opposed to just getting old) to me is passionately living life to the fullest and includes a balance of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well being.
I am a lover of life, adventure, people and growth. Practicing yoga has given me the opportunity to find balance and healing in my body and spirit. As in instructor, I was trained in the practice of Baptiste Power Yoga, which I have come to love. In my own practice, I love exploring new ways to move my body and find grounding. The integration of movement, breath, strength, balance and opening has been powerful in my practice and has changed how I engage in life off the mat. The mission of "redefining longevity" resonates with me deeply. I long to love and honor my whole self so I can live fully. I want to strengthen my body and mind so it is prepared to embrace every challenge and every moment of beauty this life has to offer. If I do it right, I'll be climbing mountains and sliding down glaciers when I'm eighty!
Longevity in health means that we are balanced in mind, body, and spirit. While the Hatha postures are always the same, little by little, we are changing every day. I love this practice because it teaches us to be flexible and humble as we navigate challenges on the mat and in life.
I’ve recently discovered the incredible opportunity that yoga offers, and it’s become something I truly enjoy and value. Combining this with strength training has shown me how powerful the two can be together. Strength training builds muscle and endurance, while yoga improves flexibility, balance, and recovery, all in a way that feels energizing and restorative. The heat adds an extra layer of focus and discipline, making it a workout that leaves me feeling stronger inside and out. These two practices keep me healthy, prevent injuries, and have become a routine I know I can carry with me for life. For me, yoga isn’t just a workout—it’s a habit that supports my physical and mental well-being, and I’m excited to help others find that same connection.
Yoga became a part of my life as I searched for a way to stay strong, centered, and balanced. In all its forms, yoga brings focus to mindful movement and breath, and has shown me how to create a foundation for lasting wellness, enabling me to move with joy and intentionality
